Unfinished Enough

Description

This painting began without a plan…  no flowers, no skyline, nothing recognizable in mind.

Yet as the layers built, tulips rose from the surface, sunlight slipped through tree-lines and even an inverted skyline took shape.

Large fields of soft gray space give the eye somewhere to rest, while up close the surface reveals rich texture and hidden movement. What seems flat from afar comes alive within reach.

The composition naturally guides the gaze in a counterclockwise rhythm, echoing the way this work unfolded: unexpected, layered and full of quiet surprises.

Is it finished?  For now, yes.  I’m sure in time I’ll come to find areas I want to work or re-work…  And for now, it’s worthy of taking up space on my wall so I can swim around in the energy of it for a while.
