A striking contemporary figurative painting, “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” captures a moment of solitude and introspection. A woman in a bold red dress sits on a deep blue bench, gazing away from the viewer towards a cityscape of geometric buildings. The painting blends realism with expressive brushwork, using contrasting colors and structured composition to evoke themes of anticipation, contemplation, and quiet strength. The subject’s posture, combined with the architectural backdrop, creates a sense of narrative—an untold story of waiting, longing, or reflecting on the moment.
This piece is perfect for collectors of modern figurative art, urban contemporary paintings, or anyone drawn to bold color contrast and narrative-driven artwork.
I envisioned a young girl waiting for a job interview in big city… and “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing…” was created. I image the nerves, anxiousness and pressure she might be feeling as she waits for her “turn”.
